Department of Chemistry

History of the Department:

The Department of Chemistry started its journey with General Course in Chemistry from 1985 and later on received affiliation of the University of Burdwan for the Honours Course in 2009. Since 2017-18 Academic session it started offering Core course (Honours), Generic Elective and Programme in Chemistry through CBCS under Bankura University.
Most of the students are from rural background and economically weak family. Substantial portions of the students are first generation learners. Their average marks at +2 level ≥ 70%. However, the students of the department are intelligent, studious and obedient. Success rate is above 80% with substantial percent of students obtaining 1st class. The department is proud to produce a gold medalist in 2014. Most of the ex-students are well placed in different parts of the state and country. Most of the recently pass-out students are pursuing M. Sc. in different Universities of the State and Country.
